I have a working solution and need to test it on the staging sites.

DHTS pointed out that account creators are unlikely to fill out a first name and last name field consistently. They suggested that an email field be added to the user system so that names can be added with a single field. Emails need to input in the form first-name.last-name@duke.edu. WAC agreed that an email field would likely work better than first and last name fields.
